100 Year Old Nagaland Mortar
Occasionally we find items on our buying trips that are really unusual and special and these antique mortars carved out of whole pieces of hard wood tree trunk are just that. Used a century or more ago as a mortar for grinding spices, they are made from a thick, heavy piece of tree trunk, ruggedly carved and then strengthened with rustic metal banding. They each have two thick metal ring handles for carrying. Unlikely to be used again for grinding spices, these truly unique items could be used to display a potted plant, for holding pot pourri or as a quirky decorative feature within your home or business.
