BEAUTIFUL PAINTED CABINET
This exceptional and beautiful painted cabinet from Jodhpur exudes style and design. Skilled craftsmen have constructed this cabinet from mango wood and decorated throughout, including floral motifs inside each door panel. The doors themselves each have three panels embellished with depictions of women in their finery and of Ganesha. The panels tell us of stories and are evocative of a time and place, of people and culture and of romance. There can be seen hand written text throughout the cabinet, while the sides are also covered in elaborately dressed people. The cabinet’s surrounds are also fully painted with floral designs and motifs, while the added attraction comes from a pair of tigers facing each other on the top of the piece; therefore quite extraordinary.
A family of artisan painters living in a rural village a distance out from Jodhpur used their skills to paint this cabinet. The painting can take up to three days and invariably two to three people are working on them at any one time. Overall simply stunning piece of furniture.
A remarkable, unique and original item of furniture. This cabinet has two inner shelves allowing for various storage options. Inside each door can be found three panels, each with some painted floral motifs. The cabinet has been constructed using a native Indian hardwood, mango wood, and the whole piece has been eye-catchingly hand painted.
The doors each have three panels where you will see women in their finery and the god Ganesha in the top left one. Stories are being told and in addition the sides of the cabinet show further depictions of people. They too are dressed in their fineries, while the whole piece is painted in multi-colours with floral designs and motifs. A slim metal handle has been attached to each door, in keeping with the cabinet’s overall look and appeal. In addition, another feature too this item is the pair of tigers that adorn the top, beautifully painted and realised. A stunning item of furniture.
This most beautiful cabinet brings with it craft and skills, while exuding great character and charm. Whichever room this cabinet resides in, it will certainly bring both colour and appeal. It would look beautiful in a sitting room/dining room or could easily be housed in a hallway/landing. What it will bring is a small part of Rajasthan’s culture and place into the home.
Made in India.
